Find a suitable space ( like the empty Richardson shops) that could become a thriving arts hub running workshops, drop in art social time/cup of coffee, small exhibition space. My hope would be to acquire a grant to pay someone to facilitate workshops, for example pay a practicing artist to run a workshop with a group of say 10 participants. The group would continue to meet after the workshop, perhaps for several weeks working with what was learnt. Then the facilitator would come back and see the results. I would envisage that someone else would be in a paid position to organise the different workshops and run the group too. Start out with one day a week....and see where it goes. I have been attending a similar set up in O'Connor and recently ran a workshop where participants learnt how to dye material with plant matter, print onto the material and create a doona cover that was a farewell gift.
